Catalyxx, registered as Catalyxx Procesos Catalíticos SL and based in Seville, uses catalysis to convert bioethanol into butanol, hexanol and higher alcohol blends chemically identical to fossil-based versions. In June 2026 it secured more than 20 million euros in EU funding through the RenewChem project, backed by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking, to build its first commercial-scale plant alongside industry partners Arkema and Evonik.
