Spark Cleantech designs and operates on-site modules installed between an industrial client's existing gas network and its high-temperature burners. Pulsed plasma strips carbon out of the gas before it is burned, leaving hydrogen as a decarbonised fuel and yielding a solid carbon nanomaterial used in polymers, tyres, coatings and battery manufacturing. The company says the process cuts emissions by 85% and produces two outputs whose combined economic value is four times that of the input. The technology originated at Stanford University, was further developed at CentraleSupélec, and is being industrialised by Spark Cleantech in France.
