概要
UpSurgeOn is an Italian deeptech company founded by two neurosurgeons that develops hyper-realistic multidisciplinary surgical simulation combining virtual reality, advanced physical models and digital platforms. Its technologies are commercialised in over 110 countries and span cranial and spinal neurosurgery, plastic surgery, ENT and orthopaedics. The round funds global expansion, new surgical specialties on its proprietary platforms and R&D in advanced psychomotor skill enhancement. Headquartered in Assago (Milan).
創業の背景
UpSurgeOnは、脳神経外科医のFederico Nicolosi氏とGiannantonio Spena氏が2014年に自院で3D仮想モデルと3Dプリントモデルを術前計画に用いたことを出発点とする。2015年に3Dモデルと物理再構成を臨床に用いる手法を論文として発表し、2017年にミラノでUpSurgeOn S.R.L.を設立した。創業時のメンバーは5人であった。同社は脳神経外科の研修が、学習曲線の険しさ、高額なプログラム、遺体解剖へのアクセスの制限といった課題を抱えていると説明し、遺体を用いない模擬訓練によって外科の技能習得を世界的に利用しやすくすることを使命に掲げている。
