Enlightra develops integrated silicon-nitride comb-laser engines that produce dozens of laser colours from a single chip, replacing racks of discrete lasers. Each colour acts as an independent data channel, so one source can feed dozens of high-bandwidth optical links between processors, boards and racks. The company has designed and built 8-channel and 16-channel lasers meeting customer specifications for AI chip interconnects, with error-free transmission at target speeds and power levels, and has a 25-person team. Pilot production is slated for 2027. The lasers are made with industry-standard silicon photonics fabrication processes.
