概要
River AI, founded by former xAI co-founder Igor Babuschkin, offers LoRA fine-tuning and reinforcement learning on frontier open-weight models through an API with token-metered billing. The goal is to let developers and enterprises train, tune and serve custom models without running their own hardware. The company was roughly two months old at the time of the raise. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California.

River AIは、DeepMind、OpenAI、xAIで約10年にわたりAI開発に携わったIgor Babuschkin氏が、2026年6月10日に公表した企業である。同氏は、機械が仕事を担う時代に人間には何が残るのかという問いが出発点だったと述べている。現在のエージェントは利用者から学ばず、利用者も十分に制御できないため、利用者から学び、利用者が制御できる新しいAIを目指すという。今日のスタックは少数の企業が知能を所有しトークン単位で貸し出す前提で作られており、個人向けAIには合わないとして、学習から製品、ハードウェアまでの作り直しを掲げる。最初の提供物がRiver APIである。
