Sofab Inks develops and manufactures nanoparticle materials with a focus on perovskite solar applications. Its Tinfab material is designed to replace the fullerene C60 layer that the company describes as a source of voltage loss and mechanical weakness. 創業の背景
Sofab Inks は米ケンタッキー州ルイビルに拠点を置く化学材料メーカーである。2022年に、ルイビル大学の研究者である Sashil Chapagain 氏、Blake Martin 氏、Peter Armstrong 氏が創業した。同大学の Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research から米エネルギー省の支援を受けてスピンアウトし、起業家育成プログラム LaunchIt の支援も受けた。ペロブスカイト太陽電池の高価で製造が難しい材料を、スケーラブルで低コストな塗布・印刷で成膜できるナノ粒子インクに置き換えることを目指している。CEO の Martin 氏は、残る障壁は効率ではなく耐久性だと述べている。
