概要

Captura manufactures bipolar membrane electrodialysis systems, originally developed for its Direct Ocean Capture carbon removal technology, that it now also sells into lithium extraction and long-duration energy storage markets. Headquartered in California.

創業の背景

Capturaはカリフォルニア州パサデナを拠点とし、技術はカリフォルニア工科大学(Caltech)で生まれた。共同創業者はCaltechの教授であるCX XiangとHarry Atwaterで、Xiangが最高技術責任者、Atwaterが最高科学責任者を務める。CEOは直接大気回収企業Carbon Engineeringの元CEOであるSteve Oldhamである。「海の力を使って気候を癒やす」ことを使命とし、上層海水からCO2を取り除くDirect Ocean Captureをバイポーラ膜電気透析によって実現することを出発点にしている。
