Generative Bionics is a Genoa-based spin-off of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), founded in July 2024 by Daniele Pucci, Alessio Del Bue, Marco Maggiali and Andrea Pagnin, all formerly at IIT, with Davide Rota and Jeffrey Libshutz as co-founders on the entrepreneurial side. Its humanoids build on IIT's iCub, ergoCub and iRonCub programmes, combining a distributed network of tactile and force sensors, a Physical AI control architecture and Italian industrial design. IIT has granted the company exclusive licences to key technologies, including work created with INAIL under the Physical AI programme. About 70 IIT engineers joined the company's technical division as part of the deal.
