Max Space builds expandable space habitats that launch compactly and expand up to twenty times their stowed volume on orbit or on the lunar surface. A 20-cubic-meter demonstration module is manifested for a SpaceX rideshare to low Earth orbit, with a 1,000-cubic-meter habitat planned for 2030. 創業の背景
Max Spaceは、居住可能な宇宙空間の不足が人類の宇宙進出を制約しているとの認識から、宇宙の不動産を手がける企業として、地球軌道、月、火星向けの展開型居住施設を開発している。共同創業者にはCEOのSaleem Miyan氏、会長のAaron Kemmer氏、CTOのMaxim de Jong氏がいる。Kemmer氏は軌道上製造企業Made in Spaceを共同創業した人物で、de Jong氏はGenesis IとGenesis IIの設計と製作に関わり、BEAMもその設計思想に基づくと同社は紹介している。1999年にThin Red Lineを創業した同氏の知見が、同社の展開型構造技術の土台になっている。
