Phosphoenix

Phosphoenix B.V. is an Amsterdam neurotechnology company and spin-off from the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN, an institute of the KNAW), developing a neuroprosthetic system that restores functional vision for people with profound blindness by directly stimulating the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN), bypassing damage to the retina or optic nerve. Its proprietary Fountain Probe incorporates more than 1,000 microelectrodes. The financing funds preparations for a first-in-human clinical study with Amsterdam UMC and further development of its neurostimulation system.
