Quantum physics simulations screen millions of mutation combinations in silico, the outputs train problem-specific AI models, and automated lab robotics test the best predictions and feed results back. Target sectors include pharmaceuticals, personal care, sustainable fine chemicals and industrial biotech. Headquartered in Manchester.
創業の背景
Imperagenは2021年11月に、マンチェスター・バイオテクノロジー研究所の研究者であるアンドリュー・アーモンド博士、アンドリュー・カリン博士、ティム・アイズ博士の3名が設立した、マンチェスター大学発のスピンアウト企業である。酵素は医薬品製造からパーソナルケア、持続可能な化学品まで廃棄物やエネルギー使用、生産コストを減らす生体触媒として使われるが、実用に耐える酵素への改変は難しく複雑であり、従来の手作業によるスクリーニングは遅く高価でヒット率も低いという課題がある。同社はこの課題に対し、AIと量子物理を用いて酵素をより速く改良することを掲げている。
