Matta is an industrial AI company spun out of the University of Cambridge Institute for Manufacturing, where co-founders Douglas Brion (CEO) and Sebastian Pattinson (Chief Scientist) met. Its first product uses unsupervised and self-supervised computer vision to automate quality control and anomaly detection, take measurements, diagnose root causes and recommend corrective actions on the line. The system is delivered as a plug-and-play combination of hardware, factory integration and software, and the company reports over 99 percent defect-detection accuracy in one polymer manufacturing deployment after ten minutes of data. Named deployments include Bowers & Wilkins and an integration with OEM Caracol for closed-loop control of additive manufacturing cells.
